“Lost Gods” Book Review

I absolutely adored this series. Every minute of it was breath taking and left me thinking about the characters long after I had finished their story. I gave this series a five star review all around.

There are three books in this series and  each follow a different God. I’m a big fan of writers using past characters in their other books and Laverne does a great job overlapping the characters. The mains in book one follow you all the way to book three along with the new characters and I love being able to see how they have grown.

All the Gods are dead. Long live the Gods. Long live Zeus.

What if you woke up one day and found out you used to be a God? But you don’t care when you can’t save the one you love. Unless you claim your legacy and your powers, even if you have to kill your father to do it.

Ze found he would do whatever he must to make sure Kassia lived. She was an innocent.

Kassia lived her life for the last year under a death sentence. She had an end date of three months. This was her last chance to save herself against the thing killing her from the inside. Even accepting the will of a God. He could save her life, but at what cost to her soul?

When survival is everything, would you do anything to ensure that you do?

My Review:

I’ll admit when I read this I wasn’t to sure I was going to like it. And I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with a God. But then it pulled me in and I loved it. I love the character’s names, I love the mystery of the event they find themselves in, and I love the backdrop. The characters are well written and the story is fully developed. This is a must read if you like stories that will leave you wanting more then this fist book is where you should go.

All the Gods are dead. Long live the Gods. Never forget.

To be reborn time after time knowing, remembering; each past life is both heaven and hell for Ledo. But as a son of Ares, the Fates rule his life. His rebirth serves one purpose: to stand with Zeus when he faces Cronus and to die doing it. That never bothered him. He’d lived many lifetimes and knew his destiny, willingly embracing it.

But then came Aria, she too was his destiny, his reward. Both his pleasure and his pain. Protect her he would, even if it meant going against the Fates.

As a scientist, if Aria couldn’t see it, taste it, touch it or calculate it, it didn’t exist. Until the man from her beautiful dreams showed her everything she believed in was a lie. And now that she knew that, her life was forfeited

My Review:

This book was interesting to me. I wasn’t ready to let go of the character’s from the last book but I didn’t have too. These books are linked together and I was able to get a glimpse of the main story in this book. As all of these books follow a very specific arc. Something I really love about this book is the connection that Led and Aria feel. You defiantly get a sense of design intervention in this book.

Book Series Book 3 of 3

Genre Fantasy Romance

Publication Date December 28, 2016

Publisher Isisindc Publishing, LLC

Print Length  207 pages

All the Gods are dead. Long live the Gods. I am aware.

Linc had grown up having to kill to protect himself and his best friend. So, death and he were intimate friends. Then when his best friend turned out to be non-other than the Greek God Zeus and needed him to once again watch his back, Linc had no choice but to grab his Glock and say, hell yes.

Little did he know, he had many trials to go through to be able to help his friend. Not the least of which was helping a woman conquer her fears and not run from a man like him. But she was an integral part of his existence. He could not let her go.

Mina had resigned herself to being alone all her life. She could trust no one with her secrets, she couldn’t even trust herself. She’d been forced to kill to protect those secrets and she didn’t want to risk the one man who might have accepted them. Not after she’d almost cost him his life. Yet, help him she must. It was her destiny, she just couldn’t bring herself to believe it.

My Review:

This last book was my favorite. I absolutely love Mina and her abilities. I love the way she is so independent and makes her own claim. Mina is defiantly the more empowering of the three main women in this series. Strong, independent, and brave whats not to love? Linc is also a fun character and I love the way his personality kind of compliments hers.

Final Thoughts:

I love this series and would recommend it to other readers who have a love for the Greek Gods, romance, mystery, and action because this book has a bit of everything. *This series must be read in order and does contain detailed scenes.*

Twisted Beauty #CoverReveal and what it took to create it.

Wow. Today was amazing!

Twisted Beauty had a fantastic #CoverReveal party on Facebook today and I am so thankful to have had you guys as part of it. I want to send a special thank you to all the wonderful bloggers that participated in this event!

Just incase you missed it! Here is the cover for Twisted Beauty!

Twisted Beauty Kindle cover .jpg

I’m in love with it.

This beautiful peace of artwork was designed by Jessicca Boyer (She is amazing isn’t she?)

But let’s talk about the piece behind the cover for a minute.

She’s stunning. Jessicca spent over ten hours shading and creating the concept for the cover. Once it was created it got sent to the editing expresso to turn into a cover. Want to see the options?

Here were the four concepts we got back. The first I really liked because it still kept the original color scheme in mind. The red rose is a big motif in Twisted Beauty and something I specifically requested in the design. But the title didn’t pop out as well.

The second didn’t work for any of us in my publishing team. It was broken up in strange places and didn’t seem to flow.

I love, love, LOVE the third one. It gave a classy and eloquent look to the cover that reminded me of some of the classics. But the blue just didn’t fit the story.

But the purple one grabbed. There are two defining character moments that relate to the purple roses that come up in my book. And that wasn’t something that I had even considered as an important representation of the story until I saw this cover.

The purple rose in my story represents two different things in TB. It represents sacrifice and it represents being different.

Belle is ahead of her time in the story and is so very different from the other girls. She is also grieving a sad and haunted past. For me and for Belle the purple rose is a symbol of embracing that uniqueness and a symbol of moving away from that pain.

Twisted Beauty is as much about grief as it is about love. Because it is the people we love that repair our wilted hearts.

Twisted Beauty comes out April 7th. But you can add it to your Goodreads shelf now and participate in the #Giveaways on my Facebook author page.

Twisted Beauty (Prologue)

The smoke rose from above the treetop, sprawling across the night sky. His golden eyes flickered towards the pale moon for only a second before he felt Selerium behind him.

“My Lord,” she whispered, “what has happened?”

But he had no words. He had nothing. He looked down at the ground covered in ashes. His eyes trailed over the ember that formed at the edges of the dilapidated structures. Fragments of homes, barns, and shops reduced to firewood. As he moved through the debris, he kicked over chunks of wood, making his way towards the only home that mattered–hers.

Selerium followed him quietly as shadows danced over their pale features, her long gown dragging over the ashes. He couldn’t help but wonder what of the ashes were human remains.

As he came into a clearing, he clenched his fists. The house he had come to find had been reduced to a pile of ashes. There was nothing left. He had nothing left.

As he stood there hollow, Selerium brushed passed him. Stooping over, she began to sift through the ashes. He swallowed as she lifted an uncharred chain from the rubble, the familiar amulet swaying in the still air. Even in the dark night, the royal crest—a rose—shimmered from the pendent.

“My lord. . .” Selerium trailed off as she took the amulet into her hands. “I am so sor—”

He lifted his hand to silence her and turned his eyes towards the distant castle that peered over their land, the large towers a forgotten silhouette on the horizon.

“I lost everything today.”

I can’t do this anymore

“I can’t do this anymore.”

It’s the second week of school and as aways, I have found myself frozen amidst all the work I have to do. And last night I couldn’t help but stare down at the seven chapters I had to read with an overwhelming sense of dismay. It was 9:00pm and I still had to get up at 6:00am but a paper was due at midnight over the seven chapters I had not even started.

I shut the book. Put my computer down after finalizing a few more author events. And said, “I can’t do this anymore.” I started to lay down to sleep and was ready to turn in the assignment late, fail the quiz that was due at 8am and try again some other time when life was more practical.

But as I said those words of surrender. I knew that I could not just give up. So, I opened the book, read the chapters (okay, I skimmed) and wrote the paper in one hour. But this overwhelming need to freeze up and give up, is a battle I come across every semester.

And I’d like to imagine that I am not alone in this. Talking to a friend last night during our evening course she talked about how she sat on her couch for two hours, just sitting there, because it was just too much.

And I get it.

Sometimes life gets to be too much.

So today, I decided to be your 3:00pm dose of coffee with a little pep talk to get you through the day.

No matter how hard it gets, you can do it. If 5:00pm is your clock out time and every minute is slowly adding up to that freedom, you will get there. You can finish those twenty chapters you were assigned just last night and you can survive a little less sleep in the morning. If the kids keeping screaming your name, bedtime is closer than it appears.

The Gas in your car. The bills on the table. The assignments on your desk. That to-do list in your head. You can get through it.

But that doesn’t mean there isn’t time to get a coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts, schedule a lunch-break with a friend, or go to the gym for the two-hour tot-drop reprieve.

So if today is the day you feel like you are going to break. Don’t. Because today is never the day you can’t keep trying. Today is never the day you can’t push forward. Today is not the day you fall apart.

Sometimes I feel like I live in my computer… the struggles of an author.

This week as been a whirlwind of successful moments for SI.

This week, Seeking Incandescence, has been hosted on over 12 sites.

Four awesome reviews.

One of those a Five Star rating from Reader’s Favorite earning SI the silver seal. *YESSS*

And I’m on a success high.

It feels great.

It feels awful.

I know. It’s crazy to believe that it could feel anything less than great but it has its moments.

I have spent at least an average of 15 hours a day on my computer for going on two weeks. Thanks to the amazing SI blog tour that has been beyond successful.picture .png

January 4th to the 17th. That’s right the tour is not over yet. Which means more posts and more interviews. And I love it.

During a blog tour you have to be constantly involved. A blog tour is when multiple sites host your book in some fashion during a specific block of time. It creates a buzz and it is awesome. But for a blog tour to be successful one must share, post, and discuss.

This opens the door to wonderful networking possbilities. I have made so many different friends this tour and it has been fun. But it is not the only place I spend on the computer.

My Author Facebook page is the main event. As most of you already know, I am beyond active with at least three posts a day. I create multiple graphics a week to ensure that there is always something new posting in everyones newsfeed. Don’t even get me started on Twitter. I got on one time and I don’t think I ever go off.

#Twitter #Itneverends #Help #Justkidding #Sortof

And then we get to word-count. Twisted Beauty is killing me. It is beyond the best thing I have ever written and also the longest thing I have ever written. By the way the cover for TB is finished so we will be having a cover reveal soon. You’re invited. 😉

Placeholder Image

Twisted Beauty: Word count 85,000 and still going. Should be done tonight *crosses fingers*

Then we get too the social media Giveaways. I have two going one on Goodreads and one on Facebook. They are awesome and have made this Blog Tour even better. If this is the first time you are hearing about the giveaways just jump down to my Social Media Share Giveaway post or visit me on Goodreads. (There are two different ones going on. One for a free signed book and the other for a $230 gift card.)

And basically this long blog is just a letter to you and why I haven’t written a blog in over a week. So even though I live in the computer, I’m stretched thin on what I’m doing in the vast world of the MacBook Air.

And if you are an author and you are reading this then you are probably laughing because this is just a small glimpse into your own life. Because who said writing books was easy?

Until next time,

I have a book to finish, a newsletter to send, and something to tweet.

This is the new American Dream. 🙂

Seeking Incandescence

What an amazing review! ❤️

Seeking Incandescence by Kristen Flood

Inno shouldn’t exist. But she does. She is very real. Born illegally outside of the breeding facilities, she has been raised to believe that it is her duty to infiltrate Ares Academy and take down the government. But can she fit in with the obedient masses of the military? Pepper should be dead. She should have had her memories wiped and been placed on the streets to die. But she was immune. She has spent her life undergoing experiment after experiment and now has been charged with one task. But can she be trusted to spy for her captors? Mint is a military officer. The Seers have deemed him worthy of joining Ares Academy. There he will be molded into the perfect solider, the unshakable image of obedience, efficiency, and apathy. But what if there was another way? Is standing up worth standing out?

Blogged In: Here’s the cliche advice you always wanted.

Tis the season for Holiday travels. Expect traffic delays, ice storms, awkward Christmas functions, and overpriced hallmark cards. Oh but don’t forget to sprinkle on some holiday cheer this season and force an extra big smile with those new pairs of socks.

Okay… I like socks.

But anyways if you are traveling this holiday season it is best to prepared and safe. And if all else fails and you are sitting at a McDonalds typing a blog while traffic sits dead stopped outside of the window then at least be thankful you are warm and safe.

But if you are braving the roads this holiday season and are not in fact stuck in the middle of nowhere then here are a few travel tips.

Pack efficient.

It’s Christmas not the purge. You do not in fact need to bring the blowup snowman to Grandmas this season. And paper plates happen to be lighter then fine china. And while I know you might need a hair dryer you probably don’t need seven. You know what, pack like it is the purge. Pack light.

Bring a blanket.

Whether you are flying or driving having something warm is always a good choice. Because if you do get caught on the side of the road just ten minutes from the nearest serial killer then at least you’ll be warm.

And somewhere in that super-sized suit case that you packed anyways bring a sense of humor.

Because what we really need this year, despite the Shane Company constant banter on engagement rings, is just a bit more laughter. Conversations that warm not just our hearts but the people around us. Because at end of 2016 we need a change of attitude not a change of location.

At the end of 2016 we need a hundred new smiles to brighten the frostiest of streets.

A little bit of magic to lift the troubled heart.

A dash of hope to bring in the New Year.

And a box of nostalgia to share and remember the ones we love.

So if you don’t pack light, then pack full. Full of spirit, not the holiday spirit you buy, but the spirit you bring to the people around you.
